The Advantages of a Rigidwall Cleanroom

by Technical Air Products

What kind of cleanroom is the best for your operation? The answer depends on the specific needs of your organization. Traditional hardwall, or stick-built, cleanrooms have their advantages, but many companies and organizations are choosing modular cleanrooms for their flexibility, portability, and smaller price tag. Modular rigidwall cleanrooms combine many of the benefits of both hardwall and softwall cleanrooms. We will discuss the advantages of rigidwall cleanrooms in this blog.

Advantages of a Rigidwall Cleanroom

Simple to Install

The first advantage of your rigidwall cleanroom is how simple it is to install. Because it is prefabricated, it only takes 2-3 days on average to put up, and it can be put to use immediately. The installation process doesn’t involve drilling or tapping, so the frame structure will be less vulnerable to corrosion over time. We designed our rigidwall cleanrooms with a LogiClean® T-slot fastening system which makes installation quicker and easier.

Just as it is easy to install, a Technical Air Products’ rigidwall cleanroom can be quickly disassembled and moved to a new location. It is modular, so it can also be put into storage while you are in between projects.

If you do need more cleanroom space, rigidwall cleanrooms can be expanded. They use standard 4’x8’ panel sizes, which means you can grow or contract them as your business’s needs change. You can also add internal or external ante rooms as required.

While softwall cleanrooms are great for many applications, rigidwall cleanrooms feature a more durable and robust wall system. This system utilizes high-strength 6063-T6 aluminum extrusions. These extrusions are then encapsulated in a durable coat of white powder-baked enamel that provides protection from corrosion and contamination.

A rigidwall cleanroom provides a clean, secure, and comfortable space for workers that can also be shown with confidence to visitors and inspectors. Rigidwall panels are made of clear modular panels that look professional and make it simple to monitor what is happening within the room.

Our cleanrooms are built to last and operate with high efficiency. While less expensive to build than hardwall cleanrooms, they offer high performance. We include motorized HEPA fan filter units (FFUs) and LED light panels with our cleanrooms. They are capable of meeting ISO 8 to ISO 4 air cleanliness ratings. They are also a lower-cost solution for meeting USP797 requirements.

Generally speaking, rigidwall cleanrooms offer savings of 25-30% over traditional hardwall and stick-built cleanrooms. As they are not permanent structures, these pieces of equipment can be depreciated over 7 years, versus 39 years for commercial building structures.

What kinds of applications are best suited for a rigidwall cleanroom? If your company or organization is looking for a more affordable choice without compromising on quality or professionalism, this is a wonderful cleanroom solution for you. Rigidwall cleanrooms offer a great deal of flexibility for an expanding company that needs to invest in a cleanroom but may need to make changes over time.
